Arrested!!!

They have someone! A man. It may or may not be the right man, but it seems like a good start.

Now, how long before the armchair psychologists and general misogynist media spewers start blaming his mother for his behaviour? Anyone want to place a bet? I reckon by nine PM my time (GMT) there will be something, somewhere that points the finger of blame at a woman. There's BOUND to be a humiliating experience with at least one woman in his past:

A bad time with a shrew of a girlfriend who mocked his (lack of) manhood... A particularly aggressive schoolmistress who shamed him in class...A drunken and unloved mother who took out her frustrations on her son...A woman friend who said no to his sexual advances...

Because, you know, it can't just be that he hates women. It couldn't be society in general that fosters hatred of and violence towards women. It must somehow be our own fault. We ask for it. We provoke and exacerbate it. How could he be expected to turn out any different?

I feel sorry for him already.

UPDATE: A second man has been arrested. A 48 year old man with no apparent connection to the first suspect. Fingers crossed that the police have got their men.

It is a good start. I think you're being generous with the time limit for how long until a woman is blamed.

Hmmmm. Well according to AOL he has said in an interview with the Sunday Mirror that he "turned to prostitutes" after the break up of his marriage 18 months ago.

"And when asked why he didn't get a girlfriend instead of going to prostitutes, he said: "On paper I should be attractive, but there is something about me women do not like.""

That was yesterday - so SE is right!

I wonder what it could posssibly be that women don't like about him...

Apparently there's been some speculation locally linking him to another murder in the county. The police aren't being drawn on this at the moment, though.

Ha - well, then, they've already started the woman blaming thing (from what witchy said). His girlfriend must have left him for a good reason! I hate it when they blame women for something which takes the responsibility off a man - therefore he is not totally accountable. Its ridiculous and deeply misogynistic.
But at least they've arrested someone finally. I hope its the right man.

"On paper I should be attractive, but there is something about me women do not like."

That statement, bearing in mind that he paid prostituted women for access to their bodies, is sickening.

Spotty, you get the prize... It was indeed on the internet much earlier than 9 pm GMT. Amazing. I had hoped it would be longer. The patriarchy never lets you down...

I don't want that prize. :(

perhaps that he's just the kind of misogynist who thinks its okay to pay people for sex...?
